picture series numbering

Hi Billy,

Just enjoyed the chewing gum collection.
Very nice as always.
But what I would like to know. What is the meaning that you always use that strange numbering of pictures, proceeding from e.g. **00 to **09 and then continuing with **0a to **0f before **10 is reached?
I feel this does not very much help to follow the original sequence of pics.

The numbering scheme is hexadecimal, and grown historically out of the old scheme (nn00-nn99). When I posted a gallery with 200+ pics first time, 99 was obviously not enough, so I moved to hex. Sorry about breaking your sort order... :)

Thanks for the explanation.
I already suspected that it was hexadecimal, I just could not think of any plausible reason to use it here.
And I still don't understand why you use this "rather exotic numbering" instead of switching over to nn000-nn999 for example for numbers larger than nn99?
But that may be a "philosophical" question ;)
